Stargate Residence
A challenging residential project on a 5,000 s.f. parcel in the East Duwamish Green Belt overlooking Interstate 5. The site presented significant geotechnical obstacles—designated as a known slide zone, potential slide zone, wetlands, and wildlife area—with no existing water service. The existing gutted workshop/music studio was demolished, and the site was extensively excavated. Construction involved ten 18" I-beams encased in concrete pilings driven 48 feet deep with grouted cables extending 60 feet into the hillside for stability. The design features a distinctive circular "Stargate" structural core housing stairs and bathrooms, custom vacuum-formed wall panels, trussed roof with scissor trusses, two functional fireplaces, multiple siding systems, custom metal flashing, and fabricated steel decks. An aluminum gangplank bridge completed the entry.
